Ben Jones:
Ben Jones has been a member of the pool since he was nine years old, give or take, and coached the swim team for a few years in his five years working at the pool. He once was a regular at the sunrise swims the past few years, but now has two young children, and thus has more trouble getting up in time. Ben has been honored to be on the board for the past 3 years and hopes to continue for another 3-year term.
Kristen Tranmal:
Kristen Tranmal has been a member of Hill Farm Swim Club for the last 17 years. She is a transplant from being a lake girl and has managed to adjust to the clear water of the pool. Her husband Bill Marten has been a life long member of the pool except for a stint in California to go to college. Their daughter has learned to swim at Hill Farm and they enjoy the benefits of what the pool has to offer. Kristen looks forward to supporting the board through the treasurer role and using her accounting degree the way it was intended.
Kim Wheeler:
Kimberly Wheeler-Yates and her family (husband, Thomas, and daughter, Grace) have been Hill Farm members for the last three years. She is an I.T. professional who works at Alliant Energy as an Oracle Database Administrator. Kim is very active in the community and is a passionate and tireless volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Madison, where she has been for over 13 years. She also delivers Meals-On-Wheels, and is active on several volunteer committees through her employer.
Kim has many likes and interests. At the top of her list is gardening. She works very hard in her own yard, and also helps out with our community median cleanup/beautification. Kim enjoy being outside all year round. She is a sunrise swimmer at Hill Farm. When she is not traveling, you will find her at the pool each and every morning. For Kim, it is a perfect way to start the day. Kim's daughter Grace also loves the water and has really flourished at Hill Farm during her swim lessons. Kim's family really appreciates the positive culture at Hill Farm. Grace looks up to the older children at the pool, and they really do set a positive image and are great role models.
What Kim wishes to bring to the board of the Hill Farm Swim Club is her energy, enthusiasm, almost over-the-top organizational skills and her true care and concern for this club. Kim and her family have been impressed and pleased by the staff at all levels at Hill Farm, and she would be very happy to be involved at a more in-depth level to help make Hill Farm even better.

2017 Board of directors candidate bios:
AMY TALERICO:
During the last three years, I have worked on membership as part of the board and have helped bring in more than a hundred new stock members to Hill Farm Swim Club. I would like to serve another term on the board and continue to ensure our pool provides a warm and welcoming community for its members. Our family has belonged to the pool for sixteen years and we consider Hill Farm a second home. I’d like to give back to the pool some of my time in appreciation for all the kindness Hill Farm has shown our family. Currently, I teach at Jefferson Middle School.

JOE KREYE:
Hi. I’m Joe Kreye. I am the current HFSC board president and have been on the board for the last 3 years. My family and I live just up the street from the pool, on South Eau Claire Avenue. I work as an attorney at the Legislative Reference Bureau, where I’ve been for almost 19 years. I also manage 18 attorneys, so I have some useful experience “herding cats”. When I’m not busy attending swim meets, soccer games, piano recitals, and other activities for my daughters Sienna and Cerise, I like to find a quiet spot (not easy to do) to read or listen to music. Sienna is a freshman and member of the swim team at West and Cerise is in 5th grade at Van Hise.
We have been pool members for over a decade. Of course, my daughters think that Hill Farm is the greatest place on Earth! How could they not think that? The pool really is special place for family and friends to gather and enjoy the summer and each other’s company.
It has been a privilege to be part of this community and I would be honored to continue serving on the board. I believe I have a lot to offer HFSC so that it continues to be “the greatest place on Earth”. Apart from having better-than-average organizational and time management skills, I’m also a good listener, fairly patient, and, although I take my responsibilities seriously, I don’t take myself too seriously.
Thank you all for being members.

MARK CHANDLER:
Hi, My name is Mark Chandler and my family and I have been members at Hill Farm Swim Club for exactly 10 years. I am a climate scientist and I work for a branch of NASA located at Columbia University in New York that focuses on using supercomputers to simulate the Earth and other planets. In spring, summer, and fall I work in my yard a lot and in winter I put up lots of Christmas lights. We live at the corner of Fond du lac and Bayfield. Please stop and talk to me if you see me outside. I hang out in my yard so people will stop and talk to me. Climate scientists spend lots of solitary time with their computers and we don't have many friends because we talk about global warming and people either don't believe us or they find us depressing. However, I do have a wonderful wife, Stacey, who is a social worker and is very good with people, and she loves me. I also have two wonderful daughters: Ryann is a senior at West and is the family member who introduced us to the pool when she went there with friends at age 7. She swam for the HFSC team until she was 12 and was a veteran of 5 All-City Swim Meets, but her promising career was cut tragically short by the appearance of 100 meter races (some of you parents know what I mean). Her sister Natalie, who is an 8th grader at Hamilton, started with the swim team at age 6 and is an avid swimmer. "Avid", from Natalie's point of view means, "I would totally die if our family ever left Hill Farm Swim Club". I think that kind of sums up why I want to join the board. I don't swim. In fact, I rarely touch the water (except for that one charity event where I hurt myself swimming a 25 meter freestyle). Instead, I like to think of myself as an avid Timer. However, my children's lives have been so positively impacted by the wonderful people and programs at the pool that I surely feel that I owe something back. Hopefully I can contribute to whatever power keeps the magic going at HFSC.
